Japan Earthquake Tsunami Victim by Kordian via Flickr Carlsbad, CA – Capital Partners employees, in just two short weeks contributed nearly $3,000 in donations to the earthquake victims of Japan. In turn, the freight factoring company matched the employee’s charitable contributions, donating almost $6,000 to The American Red Cross. One hundred percent of these donations will go directly to the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief Fund.
“The Japanese people are close to many of our employees and I’m pleased with the eagerness to assist in the relief effort during their time of need,” says, John Downing.
The American Red Cross remains the leader in emergency response and Capital Partners was certain they could rely on them to assist the victims of this natural disaster. The Japanese division of the International Red Cross was one of the first responders on scene in Japan helping victims of the earthquake and resulting tsunami. “We’re confident our contribution will go where it is needed most,” Downing added.
Within the last month since the earthquake and tsunami hit, Japan has reeled from the tragedies including the loss of 25,000 people to the tsunami, several strong earthquake aftershocks, and high levels of toxic radiation contaminating the air, soil, and food supply.
With the severity level of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant raised to a level seven, Japan is working feverishly to stabilize radioactive materials and make improvements at other power plants to prevent future disasters. Meanwhile, half a million homes are still without power with increased levels of radiation have been detected in the air, tap water, and seawater causing shipping restrictions of spinach, seafood, and dairy products.
In addition to the Japan contribution, Capital Partners employees participate in many community outreach programs such as the Mid-South Food Drive, Susan Komen Breat Cancer, and Oceanside SUN volunteer effort. Capital Partners employees have contributed to Toys for Tots, Haiti Earthquake Relief, and Soles4Souls amongst others.
